VALUES CLARIFICATION COURSE

Program

The Values Clarification Course is designed for individuals who could benefit from an educational format to address misdemeanor, anti-social behaviors. The topics covered are values, responsibility, self-esteem, problem solving skills, and ethical behaviors. The focus of the course is to help individuals understand the motives and reinforcers of their behaviors and to provide individuals the tools and guidance to re-evaluate their values /ethics and make decisions, which benefit their lives and society. Our therapists are experts on ethics counseling with proven experience in values clarification.

Outline and Objectives

A psychosocial evaluation is completed to determine whether the individual would benefit from this course and/or should be referred for other treatment such as mental health or substance abuse. The course is comprised of an initial evaluation and four two-hour sessions. The course is designed to be completed in five weeks.

Psychosocial Evaluation

The participant will attend an initial 60-minute evaluation to determine whether the individual would benefit from the course and/or should be referred for other treatment such as mental health or substance abuse.

I. Values-The participant will have a better understanding of their own attitudes and values.

II . Ethics and Responsibility-The participants will accept that responsibility is a tool for empowerment. The participants will learn/develop skills, which are marked by personal accountability for their behaviors and discuss ethical vs. unethical behaviors.

III. Healthy Choices and Self-Esteem-The participants will learn about self-esteem, identify their needs and develop a greater understanding of the relationship between their self-esteem, level of personal responsibility and utilize planning strategies to obtain personal goals.

IV. Calculate the Cost-The participants will calculate the cost of their offense. The participants will learn to generate alternate solutions to identify "Danger Zones".
